Something a bit different today – fashion abominations are on the menu.

I wore this outfit on the last day of our crazy road trip though Croatia. I opted for a simple outfit because I knew we would be walking a lot. I combined a flowy one-shoulder dress with an obi belt to cinch it in at the waist and threw on a tan satchel and tan brogues to complete the outfit.

ย Dress – Topshop

Obi Belt – Primark

Shoes – New Look

Bag – New Look

I wore my hair in a side-bun to complement my dress, but Croatia’s weather had other plans. Once we reached the top of Mt. Srd, a mountain overlooking the walled city of Dubrovnik, a wind-storm hit us in our faces. Soon enough, the side-bun was history and my hair was all over the place (scroll down for visual proof ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I could’ve excluded the pictures below, but I wanted to include them in this blog post. All of usย are bombarded with so many photos of perfectly-preened models on a daily basis that we tend to set impossible standards for ourselves. Sometimes it’s good to remember that ‘real’ travelling is bound to leave one dishevelled – there will rains that leave one squelchy, wind-storms that leave hair-styles in disarray, and dirt-paths that spoil the choicest shoes. But that’s ok. This unpredictability might make it tough to look half-decent while travelling, but it’s what makes travelling fun.

The next time this happens to you, don’t get ruffled. Instead, grin it and bear it. Better still, munch on a giant pizza to drown your sartorial sorrows – it always works ๐Ÿ™‚

I’d love to know what you think about this – ย do you find it challenging to look put-together while travelling?ย ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. lovely post! and this is the beauty about travel- most things are unexpected! loved the candid-ness (if that’s even a word!) of the post!

  2. Loved this blog post Savi. Captures the absoluteness of travel experiences. And you even make ruffled hair look stylish. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, curious to know more about your tattoo…
