The little fishing village of Mui Ne is a crazy place. There are amazing geographical oddities at every corner. Just last week, I wrote about the breath taking White Sand Dunes of Mui NeΒ and here I am writing about yet another peculiar (yet stunning) wonder of nature. The Red Sand Dunes of Mui Ne are right next to a strip of ocean-facing hotels and resorts. Yes, sand dunes next to the ocean – wonders will never cease!!
If you can’t tell by the tan I have going on in these photos, Vid and I spent our days in Vietnam sunning ourselves at the beach or gambolling barefoot in the dunes. Naturally outfits had to be comfortable and easy to throw on – these loose pyjama trousers work a treat in hot weather. I combined them with a crop top and a bright printed waistcoat. Some vintage silver jewellery and chilled beer later, I was ready for a getaway to the desert err sand dunes π

Vid spent his time sliding down the dunes while I did what I do best – awkward bunny jumps by the dozen π
As the sky turned to a dusky purple, we excitedly grabbed a spot on the dunes to witness the sunset. But it was one of those days when the sun didn’t want to set. We waited and waited some more. I grabbed a cat nap – oo yeah!!
But then it came. A blaze of colours – crimson, ochre,orange, purple, and blue all at once. It was stunning. We continued to stare at the sun as we went to the neighbouring beach for a walk. At the beach, we saw fishermen getting ready for a night on the sea. The sky got darker as they sailed into the horizon. I couldn’t help thinking ofΒ Jack Kerouac’s sunset fromΒ On the RoadΒ (love that book – can you spot it in this outfit post from Cambodia?)
“Soon it got dusk, a grapy dusk, a purple dusk over tangerine groves and long melon fields; the sun the colour of pressed grapes, slashed with burgundy red, the fields the colour of love and Spanish mysteries.βΒ
Do sunsets make you feel poetic or is it just us? π
Beautiful, beautiful photos! The sunset photos are wonderful! Kind of funny, this is the 2nd post I’ve read this week about the red dunes in Viet Nam – looks to be an incredible place. I compare it to our recent visit to the white sands national park in New Mexico. I’m too old to do any photo jumps, but I do love yours! π

The red sand dunes are becoming quite popular. That’s why we also visited the white sand dunes which are further away from Mui Ne which means that it attracts fewer tourists and is cleaner than the red sand dunes. It’s a bit of a trek, though π

I loved visiting the red sand dune in Mui Ne, mostly because it was so unexpected! I did have to deal with the local kids following me around demanding money from me. That was not fun but the dunes were amazing!

Yes there were tons of kids asking for money π The red dunes were quite spectacular – we never expected to see something like that in Vietnam. That said, we found the white dunes even prettier, especially because there were fewer tourists and kids π
