Earlier this week, we announced on our Facebook page that we are now ambassadors of one of America’s most popular magazines, AFAR. According to AFAR, their ambassadors:

“are influential travel bloggers and/or photographers who share AFAR’s vision and passion for experiential travel. They are some of our best content creators and curators for AFAR and do their part in building and promoting the experiential travel guide”

Of course we were super-thrilled when we found this out. AFAR’s aesthetic and philosophy fits Bruised Passports’ worldview like a glove. AFAR intends to offer a fresh perspective on travel by focussing on local cultures,  street food, and experiences of real travellers. Its articles focus on cultural immersion, not just travel. Then there are gorgeous photos that leave readers spell-bound.

This refreshing take on travel has earned AFAR a number of accolades in recent years: AFAR has won the Lowell Thomas Award for the Best Travel Magazine twice and its circulation continues to increase at break-neck speed.

AFAR has an interactive website where anyone can upload Highlights from their travels and create Wanderlists that are basically collections of highlights. As AFAR Ambassadors, we will be contributing highlights and wanderlists about our favourite street food haunts, offbeat gems, and road-trips on a regular basis to help inspire fellow travellers to explore more of the world. For example, our wanderlist Experience London like a Local is a collection of our favourite things in London.

Make sure you check out all the Highlights and Wanderlists over at AFAR if you need some inspiration for your next vacation :-). Better still, create an account and share your own experiences there – someone out there will definitely benefit from that! Here’s a selection of our highlights:

  1. We live in California and loving it completely, in fact we got a DSLR just to capture CA as the best.

Our wish list for the near future is Hawaii and Mexico and after a long term, has to be Europe. 🙂

    And many many congrats !!

  2. Congratulations on your association with AFAR. I started a page a while back and try and post when I receive notifications from AFAR. It is a great platform. My wish list is Europe. I have traveled the world for 40 years, been all over SE Asia, South America, Mexico, Canada, etc but to this day I have not been to Europe. I am trying to schedule walking the Camino Frances next Spring in Spain and will stay over for a month or so and see what countries I can. Thanks and I love the magazine!

    1. AFAR is definitely an amazing platform Mike. We’re really enjoying putting Wanderlists together at the moment. We hope our posts on Europe will tempt you to travel to Europe next year. Just drop a line if you need any help planning your itinerary 🙂

  3. Hello!

Since I want to travel the entire world, it’s really tough to narrow it down to one place.

I think at this moment, Japan tops my wish list. I would love to visit for the beauty, the people and the culture.

    Cheers,

    Sher

  4. I love Afar! You should save my neighbor the frustration of having to nag me to return his copies. Cambodia is in my sights.

  5. You guys totally make my day– each day. Beauty lies in your pictures and stories. I live in India and can’t wait to see Italy in flesh & blood.
