I wheeled with the stars
My heart broke loose on the wind
I thought of Pablo Neruda’s words often while exploring the islands of love in the Indian Ocean. Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 idyllic islands nestled in azure waters but I’m convinced it isn’t just the otherworldly beaches, luxury resorts, or alluring palms that make it special!
What makes Seychelles special are the multiple experiences that are unleashed on guests the moment they step foot on the islands – powdery beach sand, incredible sunsets, blue waters and so much more.
Why choose Seychelles?
We’ve been to a fair few island destinations now and each one of them has its pros and cons. Maldives is ideal if you want an ultra luxurious holiday but it doesn’t offer local experiences per se. Mauritius is ideal for a road trip but doesn’t offer island-hopping experiences. This is where Seychelles comes in – the islands offer a mix of luxury, cultural experiences, and island-hopping opportunities. It is ideal if you enjoy indulgent beach holidays dotted with cultural experiences.
Best Time To Visit Seychelles
Seychelles boasts of a warm climate all year round. It is situated in a cyclone free zone, which makes it an ideal year-round destination. Having said that, the months between March and June are perfect to visit Seychelles. The weather is hot but waters are calm and ideal for sailing and water sports. The monsoons hit hard from November-January. Expect a lot of rainfall if you visit the country during those months.
Getting Into Seychelles
Air Seychelles offers convenient connections from both Asia and Europe. For instance – There are direct flights from Mumbai and Paris, which make it super simple to get into Mahe. Friendly service and a menu featuring Creole specialities makes sure your holiday starts the second you board the flight to Seychelles.
Budgeting for your holiday to Seychelles
The money you spend will depend heavily on the place you’re flying from and the hotels you choose in Seychelles. Having said that, expect to spend around £1500/INR 125,000 per person on accommodation, activities, and meals for a week if you choose to stay in luxury hotels. Add the cost of flights to this and you have your budget for Seychelles.
An Itinerary For Seychelles – An Overview
It’s possible to have a variety of island-hopping itineraries while visiting Seychelles. You could even stay only on one island like Mahe or Praslin and hop on a few day trips. But if you, like us, enjoy indulgent holidays laden with cultural experiences and water sports, then this itinerary is ideal for you
Day 1- Arrival in Mahe
Days 1-3 Explore Praslin and La Digue
Days 3-6 Explore Mahe and surroundings
Days 6-8 Experience Silhouette Island
Day 8 – Departure from Mahe
An Itinerary For Seychelles – Day by day breakdown
Here’s a day by day breakdown of the perfect itinerary for Seychelles with restaurant, tour, and accommodation suggestions along the way:
DAY 1: Transfer to Praslin and explore Praslin
You will fly into Mahe Airport. From here, you can take a short flight or hop on a ferry to get to Praslin, the first island on your itinerary of Seychelles. Praslin boasts of some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world, so make sure you put it o your itinerary.
This is your first day in Seychelles, so take your time to acquaint yourself with the air of a new country. Once you arrive in Praslin, check into your hotel. We chose Hotel Le Duc de Praslin because of its proximity to the iconic Cote d’Or Beach and really enjoyed our stay. The boutique hotel has a laid-back and casual vibe and boasts of some of the most popular restaurants and bars on the entire island. You can read a detailed review of Hotel Le Duc de Praslin in our article on choosing accommodation in Seychelles. If you want to stay at a more luxurious property in Praslin, then look up Raffles Praslin. If you want something that is cheaper, then check out Acajou Hotel or AirBnB.
Irrespective of where you choose to stay, make sure you make your way to Cote d’Or Beach in the afternoon. Drink in the views and have a light lunch at the famous Cafe des Arts restaurant. Then make your way to yet another spectacular beach, Anse Lazio for sunset. After this, you could head back to your hotel for dinner. If you enjoy seafood, you could also try Les Rochers Restaurant for a special (but expensive!) meal. It offers a delectable range of crustacean delicacies – we loved their crab soup and grilled lobster. All this whilst you enjoy the sound of waves a few feet away from you.
DAY 2: Take a day trip to La Digue
The sylvan island of La Digue is just a short ferry ride away from Praslin. Have a relaxed breakfast and head out to the jetty to board the ferry. Once you’re in La Digue, rent a bicycle from Tati’s Bicycle Rental close to the jetty and explore the island’s bucolic by lanes and beaches. We suggest heading to the Northern side of the island and exploring beaches such as Anse Severe on your bikes if you want a gentle bike ride.
If you want a longer bike ride or a guided tour, then head to the amazing beaches and reserves that are further away from La Digue’s Pier. Grand Anse and Anse Source d’Árgent have sparkling blue waters and white powdery beaches dotted with Seychelles’ characteristic black rocks. Lunion Estate offers visitors the opportunity to visit a plantation house or make friends with giant tortoises. If you’re into bird watching, then make sure to visit Veuve Reserve.
Return your bikes and have a quick meal at the adjacent Fishtrap restaurant (they do amazing salads and curries!) before heading back to your hotel in Praslin.
DAY 3 Visit Fond Ferdinand and transfer to Mahe
It’s time to hop onto yet another island with your luggage in tow. But not before a pitstop at Fond Ferdinand’s nature trail. The infamous Coco de Mer is rare and precious. You can see it in its natural habitat and learn more about it at Fond Ferdinand. Don’t miss this opportunity as Coco de Mer is native to the Seychelles archipelago and can only be found in Seychelles. You can take a short walk in the plantation or hike all the way to the top for a gorgeous panoramic view. This takes about 3 hours.
Once you’re exhausted head back to your car. You will reach Praslin’s jetty within minutes. Take the ferry back to Mahe. Once you are in Mahe, check into your hotel. There is a range of hotels to suit both mid-range and luxury travellers in Mahe. We chose Hilton Northolme Resort and Spa. The intimate hotel is built at a historic site and has a gorgeous infinity pool and scenic restaurants. We had an amazing time there and were reluctant to leave ;-). Check out our article on accommodation in Seychelles for a detailed review. If you prefer a mid-range hotel, you should check out Coral Strand Hotel in Mahe.
DAY 4: Relax in Mahe and indulge in water sports
All the day trips and plantation visits are bound to leave you exhausted. Spend a relaxed day walking by the beach, snorkelling, or diving in Seychelles’ gorgeous waters. Most hotels can arrange water sports for guests. Spend the evening lazing around the pool as you sip on cocktails. If you really want to unwind, get a rejuvenating massage.
DAY 5: Go on a long hike and explore Victoria
Brace yourself for an early wake up call. Day 5 is reserved for a quick breakfast followed by a long and scenic hike. There are a number of nature trails in Mahe and you can choose one based on your fitness level. We chose the challenging Copolia Trail. On a sunny day, the hike to the top is strenuous and rewarding in equal measures. You might sweat bucketloads on the way up but fret not – stunning panoramas await. Take your time to absorb the gorgeous view of tiny islands, ringed by cerulean waters. Count the shades of blue as you gather your breath for the hike back to the starting point.
Spend your afternoon exploring Victoria, the capital city of Seychelles – walk by colourful houses, pick up conversations with locals, buy tidbits from tiny shops crammed with wares, or just observe locals go about their lives as you sample a creole curry or two at a local restaurant. Spend a relaxed evening and make sure you opt for a romantic dinner overlooking the Indian Ocean.
DAYS 6 & 7 Transfer to Silhouette Island and enjoy island life
Seychelles is ideal for honeymoons and romantic getaways. Spend the last two days of your holiday in Seychelles in a luxurious oasis. If you’re celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and want something supremely special, then look up the private island resorts such as North Island Luxury Lodge or Six Senses Zil Payson.
But if you want a popular yet luxurious stay, then Hilton Labriz Resort and Spa is ideal. We chose it because it has won several awards for being the best island hideaway in the Indian Ocean. You can read details about our stay at Hilton Labriz in our article on where to stay in Seychelles. Irrespective of where you choose to stay, spend days 6 & 7 biking around tiny islands, snorkelling and diving in crystal clear waters, sailing in the Indian Ocean on a sunset cruise, and devouring flavourful creole meals. This romantic island utopia will leave you sun-kissed and blissed out
Day 8 Transfer to Mahe and flight back home
I know we all hate it when holidays end but end they must. It’s time to take the ferry back to Mahe and hop on the flight back home. If you have some time to while away before your flight just take a cab to Eden Island – the man made island is home to a host of great eateries and cafés. Chatterbox offers a range of smoothies and coffees in a hip setting. For a scrumptious sea facing meal, try Bravo. The open-air restaurant offers some delicious salads and grilled meats.

Hi guys,
I recently started following your blog and instagram account and have fallen in love with your travel stories.
You capture the true essence of a place and the pictures are mesmerising.
I am in the process of finalising a destination for my honeymoon in mid October and have a budget of 3L.
Would really appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks
Hey Anu – you could go to Bali (Indonesia) or Pan Thiet (Vietnam) if you’d like to stay in luxury resorts in that budget. It’s your honeymoon after all 🙂
This look like paradise. Beautiful photos. I would love to visit there one day. xx
Hope you make it to Seychelles someday soon Anna 🙂
Your photos look incredible! Great guide, I’d love to visit the Seychelles
Jemma Seychelles was so much fun – we expected it to be only about beaches but there was so much to do. Loved hiking there 🙂
Hi Savi and Vid, me and my husband also went to Seychelles last year at our honeymoon. After looking your Pictures and videos, they remind me of my amazing days spent there. Everything is so gorgeous by the way..Keep Travelling.. 🙂
Hey namrata – so glad you got to relive your trip. Yay 🙂
The itinerary which u have uploaded . …wats the total costing of de tour ??
Hey that depends purely on where you’re flying from and what hotels you choose but we’d suggest keeping aside at least $300 per day for accommodation and activities
The place looks gorgeous and the itinerary sounds so fun! Will definitely try it when I go there.
Hope you make it to Seychelles soon – you can tailor the itinerary to your preferences and laze around more or include even more islands 🙂
Hi, I have been a silent reader of your blog for a while now. thanks for your wonderful posts — they have some amazing writing and even more lovely pics. A Q for you since you have been to all 3 places – which place would you recommend for 3yr old kids 0- Mauritius, Maldives or Seychelles? I would think Mauritius but looking for your views. thanks!
Hey Vas – would suggest Mauritius with a child because you won’t have to move around much. You can stay in one place and explore the island 🙂
My husband just visited the Seychelles with work and my gosh it looked amazing! He didn’t get to see lots because of work but we hope to return!
Annie you must go – it’s a truly stunning place 🙂
What gorgeous photos – it looks like you guys have found the ultimate romantic destination. Some of these photos are so beautiful it looks like they can’t be real! I felt a bit like that too when I travelled to the Maldives…crystal clear aquamarine water, and luxury accommodation. Truly unforgettable!
Absolutely! Maldives has some amazing beaches and sea life too 🙂
Amazing blog and short video giving about the whole trip. What’s best to visit with a 10 year old kid , Maldives or Mauritius or Seychelles considering cost aspect also.
Hi Gopinath,
Out of the three, Seychelles gives you the most variety and also the chance to enjoy island hopping. In terms of costs, Mauritius might be a bit cheaper than Seychelles.
Hope that helps
Hey m really sorry for putting up same comment again & again.. Actually I thought it was not posted earlier cause I commented on last years post.. Soo that’s why commented here again!!
No worries at all Jasleen 🙂
Hii…. u both look stunning! And d place is super amazing! Wats d best option for stay in 6000 to 8000 inr per night? If u can help!
Coz d resorts mentioned are way too expensive
Hi Jaspreet,
Thanks 🙂
Seychelles is an expensive destination so things are more expensive than in other countries for sure. You can find some nice apartments on AirBnB. If you’re a first time user, you can get a good discount on apartment rentals by booking on AirBnb. You should be able to find decent apartments within the price range of INR 8000-10000.
Hope that helps.
The description of the place is so ideal that we can imagine that we are roaming around the place.
That’s great to hear guys 😀
I am planning my honeymoon by the end of this month and got a quick question for you.
the inclusions of services like (water sports, evening cocktails, sunset cruises, kayak rentals) in hotel tariff you mentioned in your post; were they included in the hotels you booked for your stay.
Hi Umang,
You can book different packages at the hotels depending on what you’d like. Most of the hotels provide kayaks/bikes free for an hour or so and charge for rentals over an hour. Evening cocktails are included if you opt for the all-inclusive packages. Water sports and sunset cruise is for an additional cost which varies from hotel to hotel.
Hope you have a great time in Seychelles.
Hi,
Can you tell me how much will be the total expenses of a trip to Seychelles following the itinerary mentioned by you and staying in the same hotels in which you stayed for a couple?
Thanks
Hey Anuj – please see the budgeting section above for the same!
Hi you both 🙂
Planning to go Seychelles in Nov for honeymoon. What do you suggest? If not Seychelles, then your fave destination other than maldives/Mauritius?
Hey Somya – if you’d like a cold weather honeymoon, you could go see the Northern Lights in Lapland 🙂
Hi Savi & Vid,
Your posts are really beautiful. Lovely pics and videos.
I just wanted to ask what time did u guys visit Seychelles. I am thinking to plan my honeymoon there in March/Apr next year. Would that be a good time to go there?
Also how much minimum budget should i keep in mind for this?
Hey Ankush – you will have to keep aside a minimum budget of INR 100,000/person. You can see the budgeting section above for more information
Hi. Me and my husband would like to spend our anniversary in the month of December in Seychelles. We would like to cover Prasline, LaDigue, Mage. Could you please create a budget itinerary and share the pricing. Thanks

Thanks so much dear Kritika for your love and kind words of appreciation. This kind of feedback prods us to keep moving ahead and sharing our posts with you all.
Hi..I just love your website and travelogues. Just wanted to know whether booking the flights and hotels directly is enough without going in for a tour package as it should turn out to be cheaper. Rest of the bookings can it be done directly when we reach Seychelles. Also would like to know that whether Veg Indian food is available there if u have any idea. Thankx in advance.
Hi Nakul,
You can book everything on your own, but we’d suggest that you make hotel and internal transport bookings before leaving and not leave it to the last minute when you get there. Activities etc. can be booked once you’re there. Sorry no idea about Veg Indian food but we’re pretty sure there’s plenty of places that’ll offer Veg Indian food 🙂
I want to visit this place. Im getting married nxt month. Plz guide me with the bookings and all. I loved the way u presented ur experience of such a beautiful place
Hey you can make all your bookings using the links above. You needn’t book a tour. Just book individual hotels and you’re good to go 🙂
Oh wow. Hotel for one night@ 43000 INR? That’s too costly…btw great blog
Hey Bidyut – Seychelles is extremely popular with honeymooners and luxury travellers, so luxury hotels dominate the scene there. However we have included some great mid-range and budget hotels in our article on accommodation in Seychelles. You can check that out for more options: https://www.bruisedpassports.com/where-to-stay-in/choosing-accommodation-seychelles 🙂
I will be in Seychelles for my honeymoon, we are planning on staying at one “high end” place for a few nights. Would you recommend Raffles on Praslin or the Hilton Northolme? Unfortunately we can’t do both. We are hoping to mostly hang at the pool/room/beach with some light exploring. This is the “spoiled” part of the trip. Which one do you think would do this best? Both places have great reviews with the usual few negatives mixed in. Much appreciated.
Hey Brett – unfortunately we haven’t been to Raffles so we can’t compare the two. Both hotels are stunning, would suggest choosing one based on photographs and what you’re getting a good deal on
Hi Savi and Vid,
I am planning to visit Seychelles for my honeymoon but can be possible only in the month of Dec to Feb. Which is the ideal month from Dec to Feb for Seychelles? Also can you please suggest me a good travel agent or website to book everything since it’s my first abroad tour. Please help
Amazing reads!
Thank you 🙂
The pictures are gorgeous and actually the reason behind our upcoming Seychelles trip. Thanks for the detailed itinerary. In terms of funds for the trip, should it be only SCR or mix of both SCR and Euros? Highly appreciate any inputs.
The pictures are gorgeous and actually the reason behind our upcoming Seychelles vacation. Thanks for the detailed itinerary. In terms of funds for the trip, should it be only SCR or a mix of both SCR and Euros? Highly appreciate any inputs.
Hey you wouldn’t need Euros. You can just withdraw SCR upon getting there 🙂
Hi Savi,
Must say great work going with you guys, indeed one stop for all of my seychelles needs.
Few questions for which did not get clear answers, hope you can help:
1. We are travelling from mumbai, Is a yellow fever vaccine card mandatory for seychelles ?
2. Read somewhere some small time accommodations may not be recognized for visa, how much of it is true ?
3. Will Indian Driver s License suffice for renting a car out there?
4. Can you suggest some cab services in seychelles ?
5. I have SCR can be used easily thr, Is using credit card easy or need to carry cash all the time? Any Tips for getting scr in seychelles.
Thanks a lot,
Saugat
1) Shouldn’t be needed but please check with official consulate in Mumbai
2) No idea
3) Should be but please check with relevant authorities (we didn’t drive so can’t answer from personal experience)
4) We used hotel transfers
5) Using credit card is easy. You can always withdraw SCR from an ATM if need be
Hope this helps 🙂
