Decide THAT perfect destination for your next trip + Win two KLM tickets

Every single day we pin down a gorgeous photo of someplace we’ve never been on to on a mood-board. It’s only natural to feel overwhelmed when one needs to pick a single destination from all these gorgeous places for one’s next holiday  – do we want to chase the Northern Lights in Scandinavia or go on safari in Kenya? Do we want to laze on a beach in Spain or explore the nooks and crannies of a desert in Oman? Sometimes it’s just so hard to decide!! Does this happen to you? Have you ever been inundated with so many options that you’ve been left utterly confused about where to go? I don’t know about you, but it happens to us all the time. We can never decide where to go first – which destination needs to be prioritised and which destination needs to be shelved for later!! So when KLM reached out to us with their Destination Match game, we were sold within seconds.

The little quiz helps you decide the ideal destination for your next holiday by asking you whether you’re planning that holiday with your friends, family, or your partner! Following this it takes you through a quick series of visual “questions”- it starts off with basic cues such as beach or mountains, luxury or camping but goes on to ask the player to pick between different kinds of fruits (tropical fruits vs winter berries) or whether a crowded marketplace tickles their fancy or not.

I know what you’re expecting – you’ve chosen your preferences and a destination will pop up based on those! Nope. This is where things get interesting 🙂

You’re asked to complete a little questionnaire where you just choose what tickles your fancy.

On completing the wee questionnaire you will be given a link which you can email to any of the people who you will be holidaying with! Of course I chose Vid. On getting the email, they will complete the mini quiz too. And so on, and so forth till each member of the holiday group has completed the quiz. Upon completion, the Destination Match game reveals the ideal destination which suits the preferences of every single person who is going on that holiday. It also provides 3 alternative destinations, runners up, if you may!

I find this fun for 2 reasons – Firstly because I love a good travel personality quiz. But more importantly because the Destination Match comes up with unique destinations one wouldn’t ordinarily think of! Our ideal destination wasn’t a place that was on our travel radar at all but we must admit the result piqued our interest and we’ve been reading about Accra (Ghana). The more we read, the more fascinating it sounds. Its markets and hole-in-the-wall eateries seem fascinating so we might just have to put it on our bucket list.

We also got a bunch of bustling cities that offer everything from cafes and restaurants to scenic sites and cultural opportunities, as our next-in-line ideal matches – Tokyo, Buenos Aires, and Nairobi. I’m currently veering towards the last because I’ve been craving to explore a bit more of Africa and this might be the push I needed!! 🙂
